Off in the distance, you know it is over yonder.

I have always been a traveler. But not just any old place would do. It had to be off in the distance. You know that place over yonder that you haven't seen yet. It is that place you can only reach by foot or on horseback, where the wind has long swept all the footprints away. That place where the only sound you hear is the earth breathing, and the wild things living out their mysteries.
It is in these wild and lonely places that I have found my heart at peace in the world. My heart belongs to each and every one of them. My sister and I traveled so many times with nothing but a backpack and our cameras from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the tops of the Rocky Mountains, across desserts and down rivers. We slept on the ground and listened to the owls, wild cats, coyotes and other midnight stalkers.
It is to these wonderful memories I go when I paint or create art. I often combine photos and memories to capture a feeling. I love to work in oil paints, colored pencils, and pastels. I am always wanting to learn and explore mediums and techniques.
I have never been "formally trained", however I have been studying under the tutelage of our Great Creator and Heavenly Father my entire life. For He is truly the Master Artist. It is to my God in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ that I give all love, honor, thanks and credit for any iota of beauty or interest I have captured on canvas, paper or through the lens of a camera.
